The big reveal…pinch me please!

... I now have a brand! How do I feel? Well, rather strange …

Writing a novel is a lengthy process and the end result is something that will always be dear to your heart. You sweated over every single phrase, twist in the plot and character attribute. But once it is written, you move on – the ‘glow’ of writing that final word is transient, a mere second in time when you feel you really have achieved something. In my experience it usually comes either in the dead of night, or during the day when everyone is at work – you have no one around with whom to share that ‘air-punching’ whoopee! I did wake my husband when I finished my debut novel at about 4am one morning, and to be fair he did take the news rather well considering the unearthly time…

In some ways it doesn’t seem very ‘real’ despite the beautiful cover alongside my words, my second novel

‘The Quintessential Gemini’

will be published on June 7 2012 by the very wonderful

Sapphire Star Publishing

I seem to be at a point when lots of things are happening in quick succession. It must seem as if I’ve had a lucky start to the year – and I have, I don’t take anything for granted.  To be accepted by a new publisher is an awesome and inspiring thing – the best feeling for an author, alongside a good review from a wonderful reader of course! But do I feel like I deserve this ‘rush’ of emotion? Well, oddly enough – no! I began writing in 2009 and did nothing else but write for about 16 months. I wrote five manuscripts – it felt like I was emptying my soul, all those unwritten words that had been stored there for so many years…. Once I began writing I couldn’t stop and having given up work my lovely husband let me ‘do my thing’.  Up at 6am, breaking to eat an evening meal with him on his return from work, then typing late into the night. Seven days a week if I could get away with it, but of course when you love someone they come before your second passion! Even if you’ve waited a long time to indulge it.

My debut novel Touched By The Light was released in February 2011 and at that point I was caught up in setting up a website and joining social media. My fingers were on a keyboard, but it wasn’t to write a 6th manuscript. A year passed very quickly as I became involved with a reader/author project which is like a baby bird – always demanding more, but giving SO much back and some wonderful friendships. So to suddenly see something that I finished probably 18 months ago, with an actual COVER well, it really is a ‘pinch me, is it real?’ moment.

Manuscript no. 2 was Being A Sceptic Is Oh So Easy, which isn’t fiction but a sort-of-diary explaining why I now believe in life after death. The Quintessential Gemini is manuscript no. 3. And I think you probably know what is coming next … yes, manuscript no. 4 is The Restaurant which is also being published by Sapphire Star Publishing on 2 August 2012. And guess what? That means another cover coming VERY soon!

So if you bump into me, please pinch me just to remind me that yes, this is real and there was a reason I spent 16 months living, breathing and dreaming words, plots, characters. You’ll have to wait just a little while to find out about manuscript no. 5 – and I’m writing AGAIN! The Glass Wall is taking shape.

In the meantime let me introduce you briefly to Katherine Dale, from The Quintessential Gemini:-

I’m an avid follower of the renowned astrologer Mark Ainsley-Thomas. I regard him as a friend—I know he isn’t, but it’s my little fantasy. I haven’t checked my stars for today yet, perhaps that will give me inspiration. I read his forecasts every day and he keeps me heading in the right direction. As a stereotypical Gemini, I think he knows me very well and it feels like he’s writing just for me. Of course, there are days when I don’t want to accept what he’s trying to tell me. If I don’t see it at the time though, when I look back I have to grudgingly admit he’s right at least 95 percent of the time. In my opinion, that puts him on a par with pure genius……..

Katherine lives her life according to her forecasts, but what happens when Mark suddenly jets off to the USA and a guy named James Kingman is interpreting her star chart… well, all I can tell you on June 7 2012 you will be able to find out!

Thanks for stopping by and sharing in news – and yes – I’m home alone and there’s no one to see my ‘air-punching’ whoopee!
